NASA's Marshall Center to Present Agency, Center Awards Aug. 16 to Honor Team Members' Contributions; Huntsville-Area Media Invited
On Aug. 16, NASA's Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, Ala., will hold two 2012 Honor Awards ceremonies to recognize Marshall project teams and individuals. This year's theme is "Embracing the Challenge, Fulfilling the Promise" -- reflecting honorees' contributions to the Marshall Center and to the spectrum of NASA's exploration, science and engineering endeavors.

NASA Acting Associate Administrator Robert Lightfoot will deliver the keynote address and join Marshall Center leaders to present awards. Lightfoot was director of Marshall from 2009-2012. When:

NASA Honor Awards -- 10 a.m. to approximately noon CDT
Marshall Honor Awards -- 2 p.m. to approximately 4 p.m.

News media interested in attending the event should contact the Marshall Center's Public & Employee Communications Office at 256-544-0034 no later than 4 p.m. CDT on Wednesday, Aug. 15. Media must report to the Redstone Arsenal Joint Visitor Control Center at Gate 9, Interstate 565 interchange at Rideout Road/Research Park Boulevard. Vehicles are subject to a security search at the gate. News media will need two photo identifications and proof of car insurance. Visitor parking is available in front of Building 4200 on the southwest side.
