What: In recognition of Asian Pacific American Heritage Month, NASA's Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, Ala., will host a special program that underpins the theme of "Leadership, Diversity and Harmony -- Gateway to Success." On July 10, 1978, the U.S. House Representatives passed legislation to educate and celebrate the accomplishments made by the Asian Pacific American community throughout history.

Who: Dr. Jaiwon Shin, associate administrator of NASA’s Aeronautics Research Mission Directorate in Washington, will be the keynote speaker. Shin manages NASA's aeronautics research portfolio and guides its strategic direction. This portfolio includes research in the fundamental aeronautics of flight, aviation safety and the nation’s airspace system.

When: Tuesday, May 13, 10:30 a.m. CDT

To attend: News media interested in covering the event should contact Betty Humphery of Marshall's Public and Employee Communications Office at 256-544-0034 no later than 4 p.m. Monday, May 12. Media must report to the Redstone Arsenal Joint Visitor Control Center at Gate 9, Interstate 565 interchange at Rideout Road/Research Park Boulevard. Vehicles are subject to a security search at the gate. News media will need two photo identifications and proof of car insurance. Visitor parking is available in front of Bldg. 4200 on the southwest side.
