What: On Oct. 23, NASA's Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, Ala., will welcome 24 students from the Tennessee School for the Blind in Nashville. The students will tour key facilities across the center, experience the awesome thunder of a live hot-fire engine test and the thrill of a recorded space shuttle launch, and discuss careers in math and science with Marshall Center personnel – including NASA chemist Craig Moore, who has been blind since birth.
The annual visit to the Marshall Center by the school's students – part of Marshall's commemoration of National Disability Employment Awareness Month – is designed to inspire young people from all walks of life to pursue careers vital to NASA's continuing mission of exploration across the solar system.
When: 10 a.m., Tuesday, Oct. 23
Where: Members of the news media are invited to join the students for these events:
Shuttle launch video presentation: Morris Auditorium, Bldg. 4200 (10-11 a.m.)
Lunch/Overview of Marshall Center propulsion activities: Propulsion Research & Development Laboratory, Bldg. 4205 (11 a.m.-1 p.m.)
Hot-fire engine test: East Test Area (1:30-2 p.m.)

Media must report to the Redstone Arsenal Joint Visitor Control Center at Gate 9, Interstate 565 interchange at Rideout Road/Research Park Boulevard. Vehicles are subject to a security search at the gate. News media will need two photo identifications and proof of car insurance. Visitor parking is available in front of Bldg. 4200 on the southwest side.
