HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – NASA human resources specialist Paulette Davy, a native of Alexandria, Jamaica, has received a Women’s Equality Day award for outstanding administrative service. The award was presented Aug. 23 by the Team Redstone Federal Women’s Program, which includes the U.S. Army Garrison at Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, Ala., and NASA’s Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville.

Davy is a human resources specialist in the Marshall Center’s Training and Incentives Office, part of the Office of Human Capital. Since 2002, she has served as Marshall’s incentive awards officer, responsible for coordinating the Incentive Awards Program, Suggestions Program and the annual Honor Awards Program, all which recognize the superior accomplishments of Marshall employees. Davy also ensures organizations comply with established award guidelines and oversees all organizational award ceremonies. In 2003, she created the OHC Peer Awards Program, which allows Office of Human Capital civil servants and contractors to be nominated and recognized by their peers.

Davy joined NASA in 1980 as a secretarial cooperative education student in Marshall’s Science and Engineering Directorate. She was hired permanently as a secretary in 1981 and served in that position until 1987.

She left Marshall in 1987, but returned in 1991 as a secretary. She was later selected for the professional intern program as plant clearance officer in the Property Management Division of the Office of Center Operations. She was responsible for relocating or reassigning government property.

Davy moved to the Office of Human Capital in 1998, where her duties included leading a team to remodel Marshall's Self-Study Learning Center, which offers programs and resource material supporting employees' career paths and professional development. She was promoted to incentive awards officer in 2002.

Davy earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Athens State College in Athens, Ala., in 1990.

She has received several NASA awards, including the NASA Group Achievement award, which recognizes employees for meeting and exceeding NASA’s values and expectations, and the Sustained Superior Performance award, which honors high-level performance of duties and responsibilities of the employee's assigned position, as evidenced by their current rating of record.

Davy is actively involved in several ministries at First Missionary Baptist in Huntsville, including the Evangelism Ministry, which focuses on community outreach.

Davy received the Women’s Equality Day award at the annual Women’s Equality Day luncheon and awards ceremony. The award recognizes outstanding federal employees in professional, administrative and supervisory capacities. The event coincides with the anniversary of the 1920 ratification of the 19th Amendment, which granted women the right to vote.

Davy and her husband have two children and live in Harvest, Ala.
