Festival, Annual Youth Conference Highlight NASA, Redstone Arsenal Hispanic Heritage Month Activities Oct. 13-14

What: NASA's Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, Ala., the U.S. Army and associated agencies at Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville will celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month with a joint assembly and festival Thursday, Oct. 13 at the Army Recreation Center on Redstone Arsenal. The Fourth Annual Hispanic Youth Conference will follow Oct. 14 at the Huntsville Marriott Hotel. This year's festivities are themed "Hispanic Americans: Strong, Colorful Threads in the American Fabric."

Who: Representatives of the Marshall Center and the Alabama Hispanic Association will welcome some 300 students participating in "Mi Futuro" (My Future) and "Alcanzando Metas" (Reaching Goals) programs at Lawson State Community College in Birmingham, Ala., and Stillman College in Tuscaloosa, Ala.

When: The joint assembly and festival will be held from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Oct. 13. The Hispanic Youth Conference runs from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Oct. 14. A closing banquet will be held from 7-10 p.m. Oct. 14.

To attend: News media interested in covering the festival must report to the Visitor’s Center at Gate 9, at the Interstate 565 interchange at Rideout Road/Research Park Boulevard. Vehicles are subject to security search at the gate. News media will need two photo identifications and proof of car insurance. Visitor parking is available in front of Building 4200 on the southwest side. News media interested in attending the youth conference should contact Betty Humphery in the Marshall Center's Public & Employee Communications Office at (256) 544-0034 no later than Oct. 13, 2005.
