Space Station Expedition 10 Commander Leroy Chiao to Visit NASA’s Marshall Center Aug. 5

Space Station Commander Leroy Chiao What: International Space Station Expedition 10 Commander and NASA Station Science Officer Leroy Chiao will visit NASA’s Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, Ala., Friday, Aug. 5. During his 192 days in space, Chiao conducted science experiments and two spacewalks. He also became the first astronaut to cast a vote from space in a U.S. presidential election. Expedition 10 – the 10th research mission to the Station -- began in October 2004 and ended in April 2005.

Who: Leroy Chiao, Expedition 10 commander and NASA Station science officer

When: Friday, Aug. 5

9:30 – 9:50 a.m.-- Chiao will be available for news media interviews in the Payload Operations Center

Where: News media should meet escorts at the Gate 9 visitor center and then proceed to the Payload Operations Center

To attend: News media interested in covering the event should contact the Marshall Public and Employee Communications Office at (256) 544-0034. Media must report to Gate 9 at the Interstate 565 interchange at Rideout Road/Research Park Boulevard. Vehicles are subject to security search at the gate. News media will need two photo identifications and proof of car insurance. Visitor parking is available in front of Bldg. 4200 on the southwest side.
