Artist rendering of a small, powerful meteor strike on the Moon This animation depicts a small but powerful meteor strike on the surface of the moon. Scientists at NASA's Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, Ala., recently captured imagery of such a strike. Today, NASA is studying the results of such impacts to help safeguard future lunar explorers and long-term science missions to Earth's nearest celestial neighbor. (NASA/MSFC)
