Angelia Walker manages the Safety, Reliability and Quality Assurance Policy Assessment Department, one of the primary offices of the Safety and Mission Assurance Directorate at NASA’s Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, Ala. Her department ensures every engine system and hardware component that leaves Marshall for another NASA test stand or launch pad is ready to safely go to space. Currently, Walker's organization is working with key Marshall propulsion personnel to ensure safe, reliable flight operations during STS-114: Space Shuttle Return to Flight, which is expected to launch to space no earlier than May 22.
