Karen Evans has worked for the Federal Government for 47 years, for NASA since 1982, for the directors office since … "five directors," she said. The final one was Lesa Roe, who is bidding Evans a happy retirement this week.

"I'm a little apprehensive," Evans said of a future that doesn't involve going to work every day. But it's not as though she's going to be getting a lot of rest. After all, "I have an 85-year-old mother," Evans said.
