NASA and PEC Career Day 2009
2.11.09
More than 500 Hampton Roads junior and senior high school students will participate in this year's Career
Day on February 18 and 19. Career Day, sponsored by NASA Langley and the
Peninsula Engineers Council, gives students an opportunity to explore
technical careers as engineers, scientists and mathematicians. The event is
also designed to reinforce and broaden a student’s career objective.
Career Day will be held from 10 a.m. to noon at the Reid Conference Center.
Exhibitors will have booths with information about their career
opportunities and will showcase equipment and models.
The PEC/NASA Career Day is held every year during the National Engineers
Week, which has been celebrated since 1951 in conjunction with George
Washington’s birthday. Washington was a military engineer and a land
surveyor. The overall mission of National Engineers Week is to increase
public awareness and appreciation of engineering.
NASA Langley engineers are encouraged to interact with students, sharing
experiences as an engineer and information on the different projects going
on at Langley.
