Robert James Swaim, 72, passed away on Feb. 15, 2009.
Robert was a native of West Port, Conn., and was a Peninsula resident since 1964. Robert served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1958-1964. He retired from NASA in 1995, and was employed with BHA in Newport News for 8 years. He was a lifetime member and instructor at the Lafayette Gun Club. He was also a member of the NRA and the Colonial Flat Iron Hunt Club. He was an avid outdoorsman, and enjoyed being a pilot, car racing, speed skiing, and hunting.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 19, in the chapel of Amory Funeral Home, Grafton with Dr. James Anderson officiating. The family will receive friends following the service. Interment will be private in Hampton Memorial Gardens.
