With budget matters on their platters, members of the Virginia Congressional delegation and their staffs took time over the past three days to meet with NASA Langley deputy director Steve Jurczyk to chat about the center’s work as part of NASA’s Center Director Days on the Hill initiative. (Above) Jurczyk meets with Rep. Rob Wittman (R-Va. 1st), whose district includes the center, to invite him to the launch of STS-129 in November. Among the mission’s crew will be Leland Melvin, a former Langley employee and a native Virginian.
In addition to meeting with Wittman, Jurczyk talked with Glenn Nye (D-Va. 3rd), whose district includes Langley Air Force Base and the East Side of the center, as well as Jim Moran (D-Va. 8th), a member of the House Appropriations Committee, along with the staffs of most of the rest of the state’s congressional delegation.
