Walheim Sees the Future of Space Travel

Former Astronaut, Rex Walhiem, visited and toured NASA Langley on Aug. 28-29. Walhiem has flown on three shuttle missions, including STS-110, STS-122, and STS-135 and logged over 566 hours in space, including 36 hours and 23 minutes of Extra-Vehicular Activity time.

While at Langley, Walhiem had the opportunity to see one of Orion’s vertical drop tests. The Orion spacecraft will carry astronauts into space, providing emergency abort capability, sustaining the crew during space travel, and ensuring safe re-entry and landing.
