After 31 years in the Federal Government, the last 13 of them at NASA Langley, Susan Holland retires Friday. Her final federal job was with the NASA Engineering and Safety Center. "I've enjoyed working with researchers, especially working across the agency, which is something I've been able to do with NESC," said Holland, who lives in Suffolk and says that, while she'll miss Langley, she won't miss the 39-mile-each-way commute.
Her specialty with the government has been human resources, with an accent on teaching downsizing – "unfortunately," Holland says -- and she hopes to do some consulting in that area, but not at Langley. That's because, perhaps paradoxically, she most fondly remembers coming to the center in 1993, "when the accent was on hiring."
