FIRMS ON TWO COASTS TO PROVIDE NASA R&D
SERVICES
NASA has selected a woman-owned small business in Virginia and
three large companies in California to provide the Agency with
research and development in structures and materials, aerodynamics,
aerothermodynamics, and acoustics technology related to aerospace
vehicles.
Analytical Services and Materials, Inc., in Hampton, Va., is the
prime contractor on the East Coast. AS&M will work with the
following subcontractors: Eagle Aeronautics, Inc., in Hampton;
Georgia Tech Research Corporation, a non-profit, educational
institution in Atlanta, Ga.; Orbital Sciences Corp., Greenbelt Md.;
ATA Engineering, Inc., San Diego, Calif.; ARINC Engineering
Services, LLC, Oklahoma City, Okla.; FLEXSYS, Inc., Ann Arbor,
Mich.; Materials, Research & Design, Inc., Wayne, Pa.; and
Southern Research Institute, a nonprofit organization in
Birmingham, Ala. The principal work performance location will be
Hampton, Va.
On the West Coast, prime contractors are The Boeing Company,
Huntington Beach, Calif.; Lockheed Martin Corporation, Palmdale,
Calif.; and Northrop Grumman Systems Corporation - Integrated
Systems, El Segundo, Calif.
The Boeing Company has teamed with the following subcontractors:
Vigyan, Inc., Hampton Va.; HyPerComp, Inc., Westlake Village,
Calif.; Tao of Systems Integration, Williamsburg, Va.; Tri Models,
Inc., Huntington Beach; Alpha Star Corporation, Long Beach, Calif.;
and Plansee Group, Austria. In addition to the primary site in
Huntington Beach, work will also be performed in Berkeley, Mo.;
Seattle, Wash.; Ridley Park, Pa.; Canoga Park, Calif.; and Renton,
Wash.
Lockheed Martin will work with Pratt and Whitney in West Palm
Beach, Fla. The principal work performance location will be
Palmdale, Calif. Work will also be performed in Fort Worth, Texas;
Marietta, Ga.; Denver, Colo.; Michoud, La.; and Palo Alto and
Sunnyvale, Calif.
The principal work performance location for Northrop Grumman
will be El Segundo, Calif.
The value of this multiple award, Indefinite Delivery Indefinite
Quantity (IDIQ) cost-plus-fixed-fee contract is $39 million over
five years. Administered at NASA's Langley Research Center in
Hampton, Va., the new contract will support all NASA Centers that
require work within the scope listed below.
Research and development in the structures and materials area
will emphasize mechanics and durability, structural dynamics,
aeroelasticity, metals and thermal structures, analytical and
computational methods, advanced materials and processing, and
nondestructive evaluation sciences. The contract will also provide
for research and development in configuration aerodynamics,
computational modeling and simulation, flow physics and control,
aircraft noise prediction and control, aerothermodynamics,
hypersonic airbreathing propulsion, advanced measurement,
diagnostics, instrument systems and model systems.
