July 6, 2004

NOTE TO EDITORS:
NASA LANGLEY DIRECTORS TO OUTLINE CENTER TRANSFORMATION

Roy D. Bridges Jr., Director of NASA’s Langley Research Center, and Lesa B. Roe, Deputy Director and Chair of the Reorganization Kick Start Team, will meet with news media at 4 p.m. Wednesday, July 7, to discuss the Center's reorganization.

Changes at NASA Langley and agency-wide represent the next step in applying the recommendations of the President's Commission on Implementation of U.S. Space Exploration Policy and reflect NASA's ongoing efforts to apply the findings and recommendations of the Columbia Accident Investigation Board.

Langley Research Center played a critical role in the Nation’s entry into the space era in the 1960s. Roe will outline how the Center is reorganizing to position itself to play an equally vital role in the new Space Exploration initiative.

Media wishing to participate should call Margarette Lynch at 757/864-6124 by noon Wednesday, July 7, to arrange for credentials and entry onto the Center.

NASA Administrator Sean O'Keefe recently announced a transformation of NASA's organization structure; additional information and a new NASA Headquarters organization chart is available on the Internet at:
