NOTE TO EDITORS: DIVERSITY DAY 2003
NASA LANGLEY CELEBRATES ITS DIVERSE WORK FORCE OCTOBER 17

NASA Langley Research Center will sponsor its fourth annual Diversity Day celebration at 11:30 a.m., Oct. 17, in the H.J.E. Reid Conference Center.

This year's event will feature performances by Hampton University and Langley employees sharing their talents, a presentation by NASA Langley's Child Development Center, a variety of cultural displays and video presentations, and an assortment of ethnic food samplings.

Center Director Roy D. Bridges Jr. will make opening remarks. He believes diversity in the work force is a source of the Agency's strength and creativity.

The goal of Diversity Day is not merely to experience different cultural and ethnic groups for one day, but to make diversity a part of everyday life and to understand that differences are gifts to be shared. Embracing diversity is as simple as having an open, inquiring mind.

Diversity Day is in alignment with NASA's mission to create an environment that demonstrates a commitment to multicultural values and fosters innovation, respect, trust, teamwork and continuous improvement within the workplace.

Members of the media are invited to attend and should contact Kimberly W. Land (757) 864-9885 or (757) 344-8611 to arrange for credentials.
