Note to Editors:
NEW LANGLEY DIRECTOR TO HOLD MEDIA ROUNDTABLE
News media are invited to meet with newly named Langley Research
Center Director, General Roy D. Bridges, at a roundtable discussion
Tuesday, August 19, at 10:30 a.m. EDT in the NASA Langley
Headquarters, Building 1219.
Bridges, a former astronaut, retired Air Force officer and
former director of NASA's Kennedy Space Center, Fla., was named to
the top Langley post by NASA Administrator Sean OKeefe in
June and he began his new position August 11. Bridges' first order
of business is to develop the newly established NASA Engineering
and Safety Center (NESC) at Langley.
"The NESC will provide a robust complement of independent
technical expertise to examine and address potential risks in major
NASA programs and projects and it will coordinate comprehensive
engineering and safety assessments across the entire Agency," said
Bridges. "Establishment of this independent capability for NASA is
my highest priority."
Interested media should call Margarette Pitts at 757-864-6124 by
4 p.m. EDT, Monday,
Aug. 18, to make arrangements for credentials and entry to the
Center. A limited number of reporters unable to travel to
NASAs Hampton, Va., facility may tie in via telecon by
advising Ms. Pitts of their affiliation and phone number.
