NOTE TO EDITORS:
NASA ADMINISTRATOR TO MAKE MAJOR ANNOUNCEMENT

Administrator Sean O'Keefe will travel to NASA's Langley Research Center in Hampton, Va., Tuesday to announce details of the proposed NASA Engineering and Safety Center established to provide comprehensive examination of all enterprise programs and projects.

A news conference will be held at 9:00 a.m. July 15 in Langley's Newsroom. Following O'Keefe's announcement, reporters on site will be able to question the Administrator about this critical agency initiative.

Also present for the announcement will be Brian O'Connor, former astronaut and NASA's Associate Administrator for the Office of Safety and Mission Assurance, and General Roy Bridges, also a former astronaut and the next Langley Research Center Director.

Media wishing to participate in Tuesday's news conference should call Margarette Pitts at 757-864-6124 by 5 p.m., Monday, July 14, to arrange for credentials and entry on to the Center.

The news conference will also be carried on NASA TV which is now available on AMC 9, TRANSPONDER 9C, 85 degrees west longitude, vertical polarization with a frequency of 3880 MHz and audio of 6.8 MHz.
