Astronauts and NASA
officials examine one of two "suitcases" containing Materials
International Space Station Experiment-2 payloads inside a clean
room at NASA Langley Research Center in Hampton on Monday, June 10.
The materials inside, more than 700 samples, will undergo a
three-year exposure test in space. The samples include ultra-light
membranes, composites, ceramics and approximately one million plant
seeds.
