RELEASE NO. 02-015

Virginia firm wins Langley Research Center support contract

NASA’s Langley Research Center, Hampton, Va., has selected Tessada and Associates, Inc., Newington, Va., to perform logistics, administrative and scientific information services for the Center.

The award is a cost-plus-incentive fee contract with an award-term provision. The work is valued at more than $117 million over the next 10 years.

NCI Information Systems, Inc., McLean, Va., is teamed with Tessada as their major subcontractor. Day-to-day work will be performed at NASA Langley.

The work consists of support services in the areas of logistics, human resources, financial management, procurement, graphics, technical editing, photography and duplicating. Work is expected to begin April 1, 2002.

Established in 1917 as the first national civil aeronautics laboratory, Langley Research Center is a world-class facility for aeronautics, earth science, space technology, and structures and materials research. Seventy percent of Langley’s effort is in aeronautics research, working to improve today’s aircraft and to develop concepts for future aircraft.

Langley supports the nation’s aerospace efforts by conducting a dynamic program in atmospheric sciences, seeking a more detailed understanding of the Earth’s atmosphere. Langley researchers are also developing technology for advanced space transportation systems and for small spacecraft and instruments.
