RELEASE NO. 01-071

For Release:   June 22, 2001

NOTE TO EDITORS:
New Look, Improvements for NASA Langley Web Site

NASA Langley Research Center's public web site got a facelift on Thursday, June 21.

The URL, or web address, of the site remains the same: < LARC Home Page>.

"We had two primary goals in redesigning the web site -- make it more accessible for individuals with disabilities and make it easier for everyone to use," said Michael Finneran, head of Langley's Office of External Affairs. "Plus, we wanted a newer, more futuristic look to reflect the NASA mission. We think we’ve got all that with this new web site."

The redesign of the Langley web site coincides with the June 21 implementation of federal electronic information technology accessibility laws.

Section 508 of The Rehabilitation Act of 1973, as amended by the Workforce Investment Act of 1998, requires that federal departments ensure their information technologies allow individuals with disabilities to have access to and use of information comparable to that of persons without disabilities.
