NASA LANGLEY COMBINED FEDERAL CAMPAIGN BEGINS SEPT. 24
The annual Combined Federal Campaign (CFC) kick-off ceremony at NASA Langley Research Center begins Sept. 24 with a keynote address by Lt. Jerry Hackney of the Newport News Fire Department. Hackney was a member of the team that assisted in the Oklahoma City bombing rescue.
NASA employees, contractors and retirees are invited to the 1 p.m. kick-off in the H.J.E. Reid Conference Center, 14 Langley Blvd. Langley's 1996-97 CFC goal is to raise $285,000. The campaign will run through Oct. 11.
Jack Clough, the United Way Program Manager for the CFC, Combined Virginia Campaign and the inaugural Combined Public Service Campaign (local governments and schools), said NASA Langley continues to be the leader on the Peninsula among federal organizations.
"Langley had the highest participation rate of any major federal group, with 73.4 percent,"Clough said. "And, the Center also had the highest average gift of any major federal group ($162.44), and the largest number of $500-plus and $1,000-plus givers (193 people) for last year's campaign."
Media are invited to cover the event. For more information, call Catharine Schauer at (757) 864-3314 or Dr. Woodrow Whitlow at 864-6033.
