NOTE TO EDITORS:

NASA Parents Take Their Daughters to Work April 25

On Thursday, April 25, parents at NASA Langley Research Center will take advantage of a unique opportunity to introduce their daughters to the wonderful world of work as part of the third annual Take Our Daughters to Work Day.

From 8 a.m.-12:30 p.m. the girls will take part in hands-on activities, lectures and a trip to a flight simulator to better understand how math and science concepts are used in the real world. The lectures and hands-on activities will take place at the NASA Langley H.J.E. Reid Conference Center. The afternoon is left open for the parent to share with their daughter at the workplace.

The Federal Women’s Program Committee, the Hampton Roads Section of Women in Aerospace, and the Newport News Branch of the American Association of University Women are co-sponsoring the event.

The one-day program was developed by the Ms. Foundation for Women to address the issue of gender bias in education where girls are not actively encouraged to develop math and science skills.
