STS-73 Columbia/USML 2 Launch Scrub
The launch of Space Shuttle Columbia was scrubbed at 4 a.m. today. During fueling operations a hydrogen leak was detected in main engine No. 1. It will be necessary to remove and replace the engine’s fuel valve, an operation which can be performed at the launch pad. The changeout work will be done this weekend. Also, the time-critical science experiments will be exchanged.
The countdown is tentatively planned to begin again on Monday, Oct. 2 and the launch targeted for Thursday, October 5 at 9:40 a.m.
