LOCAL STUDENT INTERNS AT NASA'S KENNEDY SPACE CENTER

CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. - David Grismore of Bartlesville, Okla., has 
spent almost four months at NASA's Kennedy Space Center in Florida 
designing hardware that could be used in future space exploration.

Grismore, a member of NASA's Undergraduate Student Research Program is 
assigned to the surface systems office of the engineering department. 
His work involves designing and testing equipment that will improve 
performance of robotic systems and vehicles for use on other 
planetary surfaces.

The program offers students internships in science, technology, 
engineering and mathematics, also known as STEM disciplines. It is 
part of NASA's education strategy to attract and retain students 
pursuing STEM careers. The internship is designed to provide selected 
participants the ultimate workforce preparatory experience.

Grismore is a 2006 graduate of Bartlesville High School. He attends 
Oklahoma State University in Stillwater, Okla., where he is pursuing 
a degree in mechanical and aerospace engineering. His parents, John 
and Theresa Grismore, reside in Bartlesville.
