Kennedy Space Center, Fla.
Media are invited to provide coverage of the 2006 Family Day for employees from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Nov. 18 at NASA's John F. Kennedy Space Center and Cape Canaveral Air Force Station in Florida.
The event, which is the first Family Day since 2000, will allow badged space program workers to bring their families, friends and guests to tour the spaceport. More than 100 exhibits will be featured throughout KSC, CCAFS and the Naval Ordnance Test Unit, which are jointly sponsoring the event with NASA.
Employees and their guests will be able to visit historic locations like the Cape Canaveral Lighthouse and modern operational areas, such as Launch Complex 39 and the Space Station Processing Facility. Other highlights include a drive-by view of Space Shuttle Discovery on the launch pad, the Atlas and Delta launch pads and the Shuttle Landing Facility, as well as views inside the Vehicle Assembly Building, Orbiter Processing
Media interested in covering this year's Family Day as a news event may send their RSVP to Laurel Lichtenberger at email@example.com (this includes annually badged media). Any media requiring badging must pick up their credentials between the hours of 6 a.m. and 4 p.m. Nov. 17 at the Pass and Identification Building on S.R. 405.
Media covering the event must come directly to the KSC Press Site to arrange for a NASA Public Affairs escort. No unescorted access is permitted to any location that is open to Family Day attendees.
