NASA Kicks Off New Partnership with Charles H. Emanuel School

NASA will visit Charles H. Emanuel School in St. Croix, Virgin Islands, at 9:45 a.m. Oct. 23 to help kick off the school's new three-year partnership with the agency. The school was one of 26 selected nationwide this year to be part of the NASA Explorer Schools program. Astronaut Ellen Baker and Kennedy Space Center Director Jim Kennedy will speak to students at the school, located at Kingshill, Rural Route 1.

Baker and Kennedy will talk with students about careers in science, technology, engineering and math, as well as NASA's steppingstone approach to exploring Earth, the moon, Mars and beyond.

"Just as the children of yesterday are the leaders of today's space program, the students of the new millennium will turn the Vision for Space Exploration into a reality," Kennedy said. "As NASA carries out the Vision for Space Exploration, we remain committed to inspiring the next generation of space travelers."

NASA's Explorer Schools program is addressing the nation's need to promote student achievement in mathematics and science studies through activities that use the excitement of NASA research, discoveries and missions. Selected schools embark on a three-year partnership with NASA to engage, educate and inspire the next generation of explorers.
