NASA's Shuttle Return to Flight Crew Performs Test and Meets Media
 
 
The crew of the Space Shuttle Discovery, Return to Flight mission (STS-114), will be at NASA's Kennedy Space Center, Fla., Feb. 10-11 to participate in the Crew Equipment Interface Test (CEIT). The crew will take questions from the media in the Space Station Processing Facility from 8:30 to 9:00 a.m. EST, Feb. 10.

During CEIT the crew will train with equipment they will use in orbit, visit International Space Station elements in the processing facility and work with flight equipment on Discovery in the Orbiter Processing Facility. STS-114 is targeted for launch during a window from May 12 through June 3. The seven-member crew will fly to the Station primarily to evaluate procedures for flight safety, including Shuttle inspection and repair techniques.

Space for the event is limited. To attend media must contact the KSC Press Site (321/867-2468) by 4 p.m. EST, Feb. 8. Media without KSC credentials may request them online at:

Transportation to the Space Station Processing Facility departs the KSC Press Site at 8:00 a.m. EST. Media must arrive NLT 7:30 a.m. The Space Station Processing Facility is an operational area, all who enter must wear long pants and flat, closed shoes. Sleeveless shirts are not allowed. Video and still photographs of CEIT activities will be available at the conclusion of testing on Feb. 11.
