NOTE TO EDITORS: NEW KSC DIRECTOR JAMES KENNEDY TO MEET WITH MEDIA AUG. 8

James W. Kennedy has scheduled his first meeting with the media for 
Friday, Aug. 8, at 11 a.m. at the KSC Press Site.

Kennedy assumes his new role as director of Kennedy Space Center, Aug. 
9. The announcement was previously made by William F. Readdy, 
associate administrator for Space Flight at NASA Headquarters in 
Washington June 26.

Since his appointment here November 2002, Kennedy has served as KSC's 
deputy director. With this new appointment, he becomes KSC's eighth 
center director.

Prior to his assignment to KSC, Kennedy served as deputy director of 
NASA's Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, Ala. He also 
served as project manager for major initiatives including the X-34 
and DC-XA, and led the One NASA effort to make the agency more 
effective and efficient by encouraging teamwork across all field 
centers. 

Kennedy succeeds Roy D. Bridges Jr., who was appointed to lead NASA's 
Langley Research Center, Hampton, Va., beginning Aug. 10. Bridges 
appointment as director of Langley Research Center was announced by 
Readdy June 13.
