Expendable Launch Vehicle Status Report
GOES-J/AC-77
Atlas 1/May 19 Due to strategic requirements, the arrival of the Atlas 1 (Atlas Centaur) launch vehicle aboard a C-5 military aircraft has been rescheduled for Friday night with the offloading to occur on Saturday morning. The Atlas first stage will be erected on Pad 36-B next Monday, April 10. The Centaur second stage will be hoisted atop the Atlas the following day. At this time the launch date of May 19 is unchanged.
Electrical testing of the GOES-J weather satellite which began last week was completed last night and the data is now being reviewed. This test included the imager and sounder primary instruments and all of the satellite’s subsystems. Reconditioning of the flight batteries will begin tonight and will last several days.
