|Gary L. Wistrand was the chief, Center Services (TA-E) at NASA's John F. Kennedy Space Center (KSC). He was responsible for assuring the overall effective and responsible management of Center Support Services to include mail, library, reproduction, records management, food services, transportation, railroad, travel services, fire, security, emergency preparedness, logistic functions, propellant functions, and worldwide flight crew rescue, for all KSC and tenant organizations on KSC.
Mr. Wistrand was designated Chief, Center Services on November 19, 2000. He had served as KSC's Chief of Protective Services Office for 9 years, as well as being the Installation Security Officer.
Before joining NASA, Mr. Wistrand served as Deputy Assistant Director for Protective Forces with the U.S. Secret Service in Washington, D.C. Mr. Wistrand served 21 years with the Secret Service in various investigative, supervisory, and executive management positions prior to retiring.
Born in Abilene, Kansas, Mr. Wistrand is a graduate of Wichita North High School in Wichita, Kansas. He attended Texas Christian University and earned his Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree majoring in commercial art and graphics.
Mr. Wistrand and his wife, Janet, live in Melbourne, Florida. They have one child, Kimberly, and one grandchild, Emily.
Mr. Wistrand retired in September 2005.
