Lisa A. Malone is the director of External Relations at NASA's John F. Kennedy Space Center, Fla. She leads a NASA-contractor team in disseminating information about NASA's multi-faceted space program through a variety of communication vehicles to broad audiences worldwide.
She provides policy guidance, direction and evaluation related to KSC's public affairs programs, government relations, education, customer analysis, public outreach, media services, guest operations and protocol.
In addition, she is responsible for the KSC Visitor Center concession agreement and oversight of the KSC History Program. She also oversees the center's Speakers Bureau, traveling exhibits, internal communications, freedom of information requests, and publicly accessed Internet Web sites and programs.
Malone received the National Space Club-Florida's distinguished Harry Kolcum Memorial News and Communications Award in 2002, the NASA Exceptional Service Medal in 2001, and numerous other performance awards during her 20-year service at NASA. Malone joined NASA following graduation from the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa, Ala., with a bachelor's degree in communications. She received her master's degree in management from the Florida Institute of Technology, Melbourne, Fla.
