Johnson Space Center Director Michael L. Coats Available Sept. 19 to Discuss Center’s 50th Birthday and Future Exploration Plans

HOUSTON – NASA Johnson Space Center Director Michael L. Coats will mark Johnson Space Center’s 50th anniversary on Monday, Sept. 19, discussing JSC’s rich heritage and the center’s plans for future space exploration.
Media are invited to photograph a cake-cutting ceremony that will be held in observance of the center’s anniversary at 11 a.m. CDT in the JSC cafeteria. Following the ceremony, Coats will be available to media at 11:30 a.m. in the public affairs press briefing room. The brief opportunity will accommodate only media that attend the availability in person.
To attend, reporters must contact the JSC newsroom at 281-483-5111 no later than 9 a.m. Monday.
