NASA Astronaut to Visit Chicagoland Students

NASA astronaut Robert Curbeam will speak to students at the Quest Academy in Palatine, Ill., on Friday, March 9. During his visit he will show a video presentation and discuss his recent mission to the International Space Station.

The school assembly is open to the media. Curbeam will be available for electronic and print interviews following his presentation.

When:       Friday, March 9
8:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.
 
Where:Quest Academy

Palatine, Ill.

Quest Academy serves gifted and talented children from preschool through eighth grade. The students reside in 69 different Chicagoland communities.

Selected by NASA in 1994, Curbeam is a veteran of three spaceflights. He flew aboard Discovery in December 2006 on a 13-day mission to the International Space Station to rearrange the complex’s power and cooling systems. He conducted four spacewalks during the mission, setting a record for the most spacewalks in a single shuttle mission. Curbeam has logged more than 901 hours in space, including seven spacewalks totaling 45 hours and 34 minutes.
