NASA Awards Safety And Mission Assurance Contract

NASA has awarded Science Applications International Corp. (SAIC), San Diego, a $148.6 million contract to provide safety and mission assurance support services for the agency's Johnson Space Center in Houston.

The contract with SAIC is for a three-year base period. Two one-year extension options may bring the total value to $256.5 million.

SAIC's Technical Services Corp. will support safety, reliability, maintainability and quality for the space shuttle and International Space Station; government-furnished equipment, payloads and other items prepared for flight; government suppliers; technical and process issues; future programs and new technologies; and the White Sands Test Facility near Las Cruces, N.M.

In addition to Johnson and White Sands, work will be performed at vendor manufacturing and engineering facilities.
