Space Shuttle Status News Conference on NASA TV Aug. 2

A press conference with Space Shuttle Program Manager Ron Dittemore will be broadcast on NASA Television beginning at 12 noon CDT Friday, Aug. 2, from NASA's Johnson Space Center, Houston.

The briefing will detail plans for resuming launches with question-and-answer capability for reporters at NASA centers.

Space shuttle flights have been on hold while teams of engineers evaluated the cause and effect -- from a safety-of-flight standpoint -- of tiny cracks found in liners inside fuel lines of the four orbiters -- Columbia, Discovery, Atlantis and Endeavour.

NASA TV is available on GE-2, Transponder 9C, at 85 degrees West longitude, vertical polarization, with a frequency of 3880 MHz and audio of 6.8 MHz.
