Lieutenant Governor, State Senators to Tour Space Center, Discuss Texas Role in Human Spaceflight
Lieutenant Governor Rick Perry, and State Senators J. E. "Buster" Brown (R,17th District), and Mike Jackson (R, 11th District) will tour the Johnson Space Center on Monday, February 22.
Perry, Brown and Jackson will address local dignitaries, JSC employees and the media about 9:45 a.m. Monday in a ceremony reaffirming the unique role of Texas and Texans in human spaceflight. Mr. Jim Reinhartsen, president of the Clear Lake Area Economic Development Foundation, will introduce Senators Brown and Jackson, and the Lieutenant Governor as they discuss their commitment to the human spaceflight program.
Following the briefing, JSC Director George W. S. Abbey will guide Perry, Brown and Jackson on a tour of the Center.
Media are invited to attend the briefing to JSC employees and local civic leaders, and to participate in a brief media opportunity with the Lieutenant Governor and Senators prior to the start of their tour. Media interested in covering this event should contact the JSC Newsroom no later than 5 p.m. Friday, February 19 for accreditation. Media should be in place by 9:30 a.m. for the Monday announcement.
