Release: J98-38

Rep. Sensenbrenner to Visit JSC

Rep. F. James Sensenbrenner Jr. (R-Wis.) will hold a town meeting at the Johnson Space Center on Friday, August 28, as part of a series of briefings and meetings regarding the start of assembly of the International Space Station and technological research being conducted at JSC. The meeting was rescheduled from earlier in the week due to a death in Sensenbrenner’s family

The town meeting for both civil servants and contractors will begin at 11:05 a.m. CDT in the Auditorium at JSC’s Building 30. It will be open to members of the news media. Among other items on his agenda, Sensenbrenner will receive briefings on the current status of the International Space Station from Program Manager Randy Brinkley and Boeing’s ISS Program Manager Doug Stone.

Sensenbrenner is chairman of the House Science Committee, responsible for overseeing national science policy. Previously, Sensenbrenner served as chairman of the committee’s Space and Aeronautics Subcommittee.

News media representatives interested in covering the town meeting should contact the JSC newsroom at 281/483-5111 by August 27 to make arrangements and receive additional information.
