Local Citizens to Receive NASA Public
Service Medal
Six local residents will be recognized for their outstanding support
of the Johnson Space Center in an awards ceremony Tuesday afternoon
at the Center.
The NASA Public Service Medal will be presented to: Constable Bill
Bailey, Harris County Constable’s Office, Precinct 8, for his
commitment and invaluable assistance in providing security support to
Shuttle crew members and their families and escorting vehicles and
other hardware during special events; Roy L. Fox, Jr., Aerospace
Recovery Services, for his outstanding leadership and innovation in
the development, flight test and operations of parachute systems in
NASA’s robotic and human space flight programs; Donald E.
Gardner, Ph.D., Inhalation Toxicology Associates, for his leadership
and vision in guiding NASA toward safer living environments to
advance human exploration of space; Annette Marie Mules and Thomas
Geoffrey Mules, International Space School Foundation, for their
contribution to international collaborations by conceiving, planning
and organizing the innovative International Space School Foundation;
and Gloria A. Salinas, Lockheed Martin Space Mission Systems &
Services, for her outstanding contributions to the success of the
NASA-Mir Program. The award, which recognizes exceptional
contributions of private citizens in support of NASA missions, will
be presented by NASA Deputy Administrator General John R. Dailey,
USMC (Ret.) and Johnson Space Center Director George W. S. Abbey.
"I am truly delighted to be able to present this award to such
outstanding members of our community," Abbey said. "Their support and
efforts have contributed greatly to the success of many our
programs." The awards ceremony will begin at 2 p.m. CDT in the Teague
Auditorium.
