Astronauts From STS-83 Mission Return Home Wednesday
Columbia's astronauts are scheduled to return home to Houston Wednesday following the Shuttle's landing today at the Kennedy Space Center. The seven astronauts are expected to land at Ellington Field about 11:30 a.m. Wednesday. A welcoming ceremony will greet Commander Jim Halsell, Pilot Susan Still, Payload Commander Janice Voss, Mission Specialists Mike Gernhardt and Don Thomas, and Payload Specialists Roger Crouch and Greg Linteris.
The public is invited to attend the crew return. The actual arrival time may change based on the astronauts' departure from the Kennedy Space Center. Anyone planning to attend should call 281/483-8600 for updates on the time of the astronauts' arrival.
Ellington Field is located south of Houston at the intersection of Choate Road and Highway 3. From I-45 South, take the Ellington Field exit and proceed east on Choate Road to the main gate entrance. The crew will arrive at NASA hangar 990, located next to Continental Express. Parking is available outside of the hangar gate.
