MEDIA ADVISORY:

MEMORIAL SERVICE SET FOR ASTRONAUT CHARLES LACY VEACH

A memorial service for Shuttle astronaut Charles Lacy Veach will be held at 4 p.m. Friday outside NASA Hangar 990 at the North end of Ellington Field. A special area will be set aside for media wishing to cover the service.

Veach died today following a lengthy illness. He was selected to be an astronaut with the class of 1984 and flew as a mission specialist on two Shuttle flights -- STS-39 in April/May 1991 and on STS-52 in October 1992.

Accredited media interested in covering the memorial service, should contact the JSC Newsroom at (713) 483-5111 by noon Friday.
