JSC SIGNS CONTRACT WITH LORAL FOR SR&QA; SUPPORT SERVICES

NASA's Johnson Space Center recently signed a new one-year multi-million dollar contract with Loral Space Information Systems, Houston, Texas, to provide safety, reliability, and quality assurance support services for Space Shuttle and Space Station activities.

This is a cost-plus-award fee contract for a basic one-year period, and carries with it one one-year option, one three-year option, and one five-year option. The basic period of performance is April 1, 1995, to March 31, 1996.

The dollar value for the basic contract is about $26.3 million, and if all options are exercised, could total about $279 million.

The majority of the work will be performed at the Johnson Space Center. However, some resident support is required at other locations which currently include White Sands Test Facility, New Mexico; JSC field offices at Downey, California; and the Kennedy Space Center, Florida.

Other bids for the contract were submitted by Calspan Corporation, Service Contracts Division, Tullahoma, Tennessee; and, Martin-Marietta Services, Inc., Houston.
