NOTE TO EDITORS: COLUMBIA TO STOP AT ELLINGTON TODAY


The Space Shuttle Columbia and its 747 carrier will land at Ellington Field this afternoon for an overnight stay as it makes its way back to Florida after six months of refurbishment in California.

After flying over the Houston area, Columbia will land at Ellington at about 2 p.m. It will continue its journey to the Kennedy Space Center tomorrow, weather permitting.

During its stay, Columbia will be parked at the north end of Ellington Field near NASA Hangar 990. The public is invited to view the orbiter until 8 p.m. tonight.
