JSC AWARDS AIRCRAFT MAINTENANCE AND MODIFICATION CONTRACT

The NASA Johnson Space Center (JSC), Houston, has awarded DynCorp Aerospace Operations, Fort Worth, a contract for aircraft maintenance and modification support services.

Total cost and award fee of the 5-year effort beginning March 1, 1994, is approximately $96.6 million. The performance period will be divided into a 2-year base contract period and 3, one-year option periods. The award will be a continuation of the Aircraft Maintenance and Modification Support Services contract for the Aircraft Operations Division currently being performed by Northrop Worldwide Aircraft Services, Inc., Lawton, Okla.

The contract work will be performed at Ellington Field, Houston; Edwards Air Force Base, Calif.; and El Paso. The work to be performed includes maintenance and modification of the NASA JSC aircraft operated in support of astronaut space-flight readiness training; orbiter pilot training; the Air Force Advanced Instrumentation Package Program; the Reduced Gravity Test Program; the Space Transportation System Program; and mission management support.

Other firms submitting proposals were Grumman Technical Services, Inc., Titusville, FL; Rockwell International Corporation, North American Aircraft Modifications Division, Palmdale, CA; UNC Lear Siegler, Oklahoma City, OK; Evergreen Air Center, Marana, AZ; Northrop Worldwide Aircraft Services, Lawton, OK; and Serv-Air, Inc., Greenville, TX.
