The Space Shuttle is designed for economical and routine access to space. The Space Transportation System includes the manned Orbiter, an External Tank (to fuel the Orbiter’s main engines during launch); and two Solid Rocket Boosters that provide additional thrust during the early launch phase. The entire system, except for the External Tank, is reusable.

A separating launch configuration model on a base. Suitable for table-top display.

Display dimensions: 1/100 scale - 12" diameter x 24"; 1/50 scale - 21" diameter x 49".
