Southern California Fires Continue
The Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) sensor on NASA's Terra and Aqua satellites provided the images for this animated sequence of wildfires moving across Southern California. This animation includes images taken October 23, and 25 - 29. These images highlight the San Diego region and show the fires moving up the mountains, leaving scorched Earth behind. The red areas show active fire regions, black areas represent scorched Earth.
