Southern California Fires Continue

Clouds obscure the smoke in this October 29, 2003 Terra's Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) image of the California wildfires. Despite the clouds, MODIS can still see the thermal signature of active fire regions (red in image below).

The MODIS image below shows the smoke plumes rising from the fires shown in red pixels. Click the links below the image to see the active fires shown in red or just the smoke plumes.
