Dennis VandertuigJanuary 2014:  Dennis VanderTuig Named Goddard's New Chief Information Officer and Director of the Information Technology and Communications Directorate.

Dennis has an extensive background in information technology with experience in logistics planning and operations, business management, and program and project management. He spent most of his 30-year NASA career working at Goddard in space communications and served in various management roles within Goddard's tracking and data networks organizations. 

As Goddard's CIO, Dennis will be responsible for defining and implementing a state-of -the-art information technology architecture, developing and implementing governance and project management processes, and ensuring successful deployment of IT services that meet Goddard's mission requirements.

Dennis joined the Goddard IT and Communications Directorate in 2007 to work with the Goddard CIO to lead an evaluation and restructuring of the Goddard IT functions. He subsequently served as the Deputy Director of ITCD for Operations, the Deputy Director/Deputy CIO and for the past several months as the Acting Director and CIO.

Dennis is a graduate of the NASA Leadership Development Program and the NASA Senior Executive Service Candidate Development Program. He received the NASA Medal for Outstanding Leadership in 2005.
