NASA Glenn Joins Cedar Point's Math and Science Week
CLEVELAND -- NASA's Glenn Research Center adds to the equation of events during Cedar Point's Math and Science Week to be held at the amusement park in Sandusky, Ohio, May 16-20, from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m.
Using demonstrations and exhibits, Glenn's aeronautics, space science and microgravity engineers and scientists will share their expertise in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) with park visitors. High school and middle school students from the North Central Ohio region will attend the event as a school-sanctioned field trip.
"In day-to-day life, and perhaps without giving it a second thought, we experience the principles of STEM," said Glenn facility engineer Brian Willis. "These same principles exist in amusement park rides as well. By studying fast-speed roller coasters or a ride that plunges faster than a free-fall, a person can learn about and apply principles of space exploration in a fun and engaging way."
Cedar Point's Math and Science Week is open to all to ride the rides and visit NASA and other participants on the midway. Those attending the event will be able to learn in a whole new way.
